Our Mission

As a Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School, we seek to be a community which reflects the love of God in our relationships, standards, teachings and way of life. We endeavour to mirror the value which God puts on each individual. This means that there will be love, encouragement and support when the community is at its best and, when mistakes do occur, then forgiveness and reconciliation will be offered to each member, regardless of age, ability or resources. Our school hymn, based on words from 1 Corinthians 13 and written especially for us by Canon Patrick Appleford, reminds us that:

Love will never come to an end,

Three things will last: Faith, Hope and Love,

But greatest of all is Love.

Like an angel I may speak,

Know the truths that others seek,

Give my goods and life away,

I am nothing without Love.

I may seem a great success,

Wisdom, wealth or charm possess,

Yet whatever I achieve

I am nothing without Love.

Love is patient, Love is kind,

Love requires a truthful mind.

Love will keep no score of wrongs.

There is nothing Love can't face.

Childish thoughts are put away,

Partial knowledge has its day.

Love with Faith and Hope endures,

There is nothing conquers Love

As members of St. Edward's School family we have a deep responsibility to offer excellence - that is, a full, broad education which will assist each child to develop towards his/her potential, and to which each is entitled. This education should be worthy of the Church of England and attract respect and support from other schools and the wider community outside. It should implicitly and explicitly impart teaching, both about the Life and Ministry of Jesus Christ and also the beliefs and practices of the Church. It should offer valuable experiences of worship, which encourage children to seek to continue and develop personal worship in the wider Church family. To this end the Vicar, Curates and other church workers and worshippers are frequent and welcome visitors to our school. In the same way our children are welcomed regularly to St. Edward's Church and participate in the life of the church. In addition, many contribute to the lives of churches in other parishes.

St. Edward's Church of England (Voluntary Aided) Primary School seeks to function as a clear reflection in the world of values, relationships and compassion, offered in the Kingdom of God.
